Rules of the Grounds

Thank you for visiting us at the Aiken County Historical Museum! We are delighted to have you with us today and hope that you come back again soon. Here are some rules and guidelines to help you enjoy your visit and ensure your safety-

The grounds of the Museum are open to the public daily from daylight until dusk. We do ask that if you are coming for more than just a stroll around, please call ahead to make certain that we are not having an event that day. If you are a photographer and would like to use our grounds as a back drop, please refer to our photography policy. Professional indoor photography is strictly regulated and photographers must have permission to stage a photography session inside the Museum.

The Museum is a smoke-free campus. Please do not discard cigarette butts on the grounds and please do not vape inside the Museum.

Please do not climb on or step into the water fountain feature. The rocks surrounding the feature are not secured to the ground and will give way under your feet.

Guests are asked not to climb on the Horse Mount Block or the Transit of Venus armature. Also please do not ring or tap on the Courthouse bell.

The China Springs Schoolhouse and the Ergle Log Cabin remain locked but are accessible by asking for a tour at the front desk.

Parking is for Museum guests only. Visitors cannot park in the circular drive as this is our fire lane.

We are so glad you took the time to travel into Aiken County’s past with us, and we look forward to many more visits with you.
